About this Course
In this course, you’ll learn how to take charge of your diabetes with a series of lessons and activities. And we’ll help you build your own diabetes action plan - your personal guide to share with your doctors and loved ones so they can help you achieve your goals for living well with this disease.
What You Can Expect from this Course
The first step in managing your condition is understanding it. In this first week, we will focus on teaching you the basics of Type 2 diabetes while also introducing you to the key practices associated with improved outcomes.
In this second unit, we will take a deeper dive into each of the key practices. Together, we’ll explore how each can inform your diabetes action plan, your personal approach to owning and living with your condition.
Dr. Reed Tuckson
About Your Instructor
Dr. Reed Tuckson, author of The Doctor in the Mirror, is the former Chief of Medical Affairs for United Health Group and is now the managing director of Tuckson Health Connections, LLC, a non-profit focused on improving health and healthcare throughout America.
Throughout his career, Dr. Tuckson has been recognized in a leader in public health, academic medicine, organized medicine and private sector health organizations. He has committed himself to a vision of “comprehensive, multi-disciplinary, and integrated health care.”
He is the President of the American Telemedicine Association. He also serves on a variety of boards including the National Academy of Medicine’s Health Sciences Policy Board, the Roundtable on Value & Science-Driven Health Care, the Digital Learning Collaborative, the American Telemedicine Association, Cell Therapeutics Inc., and LifePoint Health. His on the Board of Trustees of Howard University, and he is the Senior Clinical Advisor to United Health Foundation’s America’s Health Rankings epidemiology reports.
